Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, produced between 1830 and 1837, bridges the Regency and Victorian eras. It is defined by robust, architectural forms, prominent turnings, carved acanthus details, and the extensive use of dark timbers such as mahogany and rosewood.

Nineteenth-century tilt-top tables feature a hinged wooden mechanism, often supported by a birdcage block, allowing the tabletop to pivot vertically. They were constructed using solid timber or high-grade veneers over oak or pine framework, supported by a central turned column and pedestal base.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished joinery, period-correct brass latch mechanisms underneath the top, and natural timber shrinkage over time. Look for original hand-lathed pedestal columns and age-consistent wear along the base legs.

A tilt-top table functions as an occasional side table beside a sofa or reading chair. When not in use, tilting the top upright allows it to sit flush against a wall or in a hallway corner to display the natural wood grain.

Keep mahogany items away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber movement or fading. Maintain the finish by applying a high-grade beeswax polish periodically along the direction of the grain.
