Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Nesting tables emerged during the late eighteenth century, credited to furniture maker Thomas Sheraton. Designed as space-saving occasional furniture, sets of three or four graduating tables fitted together, offering flexible surface solutions for tea service and drawing room entertaining.

Traditional nesting tables are predominantly constructed from solid walnut or walnut veneers over hardwood frames. Construction details typically feature hand-turned spindle legs, stretchers for structural stability, shaped moulding edges, and dovetail or pegged joinery.

Authentic pieces display natural age-related wear on the runners and underside frames where the tables slide together. Look for hand-cut joinery, subtle variations in turned column details, natural wood shrinkage, and deep surface patina rather than uniform modern finishes.

Position the nested stack beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa to save floor space while keeping side surfaces available. When entertaining, separate the individual tables across a room to act as practical drink rests or lamp stands.

Apply a high-grade beeswax polish along the wood grain twice yearly to preserve moisture balance and timber tone. Protect table tops from heat and liquid spills using coasters, and position furniture away from direct radiator heat sources to prevent wood movement.
