This late Victorian artist’s easel belongs to the Gothic Revival style and uses a dark brown walnut timber with a polished finish. The architectural crest includes pointed finials, arched cut-outs, and a central turned spindle, alongside further rows of turned spindles decorating the upper and lower sections and an adjustable horizontal support ledge. A hinged rear support and a retaining chain alter and secure the frame's angle. Measuring 170 cm high, 55 cm wide, and 79 cm deep, this piece works well in an empty corner of a living room, studio, or study to display framed artwork, paintings, or display boards.

Gothic Revival studio accessories incorporate architectural elements from medieval Europe, including pointed arches, tracery, trefoils, and turned spindles, integrated into functional items such as easels and display stands.

Victorian easels were typically crafted from solid dense hardwoods, predominantly walnut, oak, or mahogany, featuring traditional mortise and tenon joinery alongside hand-turned spindles and decorative fretwork.

Authentic period pieces display crisp hand-carved architectural tracery, subtle age-related wear, period-appropriate brass or iron hardware, and natural patination on the timber surface.

An antique easel can be placed in a room corner, reading nook, or bay window to display large framed canvas art, architectural drawings, or a decorative mirror.

Preserve walnut timber by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish annually, ensuring the piece is positioned away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
