Salisbury Antiques Centre has dated this Regency Rosewood Pole Screen to the 19th Century.
The rosewood frame has a gently bowed lower edge and is surmounted by a finely carved and pierced crest with scrolling decoration.

The screen is mounted on a slender rosewood pole with a turned finial and brass adjustable fitting, allowing the height of the face screen to be altered. The pole rises from a particularly attractive turned and carved baluster support with lotus-style detailing.

Raised on a triangular platform base with concave sides, terminating in three small bun feet.
Pole screens were designed to shield the face from the direct heat of a fire and became both practical and highly decorative pieces of furniture in Regency interiors.
English, circa 1820.
