Philip Hunt Antiques has dated this Mahogany Pedestal Dining Table to the 1900s.
The table is raised upon three substantial turned pedestals, each featuring an elegant turned column and beautifully swept, fluted legs, terminating in brass claw casters. The generous bow-end top is crafted from well-matched mahogany, giving the table a particularly elegant and imposing appearance.
The table extends by means of a traditional pull-out mechanism to accommodate up to two additional leaves, allowing the table to comfortably seat 16 to 18 guests when fully extended. The leaves are secured in position by traditional brass clips, which have been replaced.
A wonderful large-scale dining table, ideal for a substantial dining room or entertaining space, offering both impressive visual presence and practical versatility.
