.

The ‘thumb-moulded’ edges tops raised on turned pillar columns with carved wrythen stems onto tripod bases of scrolling ‘umbrella’ design with paterae details , and fitted with their original brass cup castors and wheels.

The two original spare leaves both having original steel ‘tongue’ hinged fittings which fit into the pillar end tops . This provides extra strength and stability when raised to extend the table , or can be stored hung from the pillars when stored or used against walls as console tables . Alternatively the leaves can be removed completely for storage. The table is also fitted and supplied with the original brass clips and forks .

In addition, approximately 100 years ago , bespoke steel fittings have been fixed beneath the pillar tops to support two lateral mahogany bars which easily slot into position to provide extra stability and strength when the table is extended to it’s full length.

The table can be used simply as a breakfast table size with the two pillar ends clipped together, used with one leaf as a smaller dining option, or extended to the full size option incorporating both spare leaves .

The whole table in excellent original condition, the whole having achieved a rich , consistent colour and patination to the original polished surface. Retaining the original ‘skin’ with some minor historic atmospheric wine glass and bottle ring-marks . Minor evidence of extinct woodworm activity to the beech frame beneath the table , which has now been re-treated as a precaution. The table has been gently and sympathetically cleaned and lightly waxed in our workshops, ready for the home .

A highly practical dining table of good scale and proportions offering both style and functionality , the design allowing capacious dining and comfort.
