Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, dating from approximately 1830 to 1837, bridges the Regency and early Victorian eras. Tables from this era are defined by substantial proportions, faceted or turned pedestal stems, triform plinth bases, scroll feet, and prominent use of dark woods such as rosewood and mahogany.

These tables typically feature rich rosewood veneers applied over solid oak or pine cores, supported by a central faceted column set into a triform base. A brass latch and block catch mechanism allows the table top to pivot vertically when not in use.

Authentic pieces feature original period fittings such as brass tilt latches and heavy sunken castors beneath carved feet. Genuine period rosewood shows clear grain variation and natural surface patination rather than uniform modern stains.

A circular William IV table serves as an effective focal point in an entryway hall or open-plan room, paired with simple contemporary seating to accentuate the dark wood grain and carved base.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish along the grain once or twice annually. Position the table away from direct sunlight and heat sources to protect the veneers and finish.
