Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale Revival furniture refers to pieces produced primarily in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that recreate the 18th-century designs of Thomas Chippendale. Key characteristics include rich mahogany woodwork, intricate carving details, crossbanded veneers, and cabriole or pedestal legs ending in ball and claw feet.

These tables are primarily constructed from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, often featuring decorative crossbanding using timbers such as satinwood or rosewood. Internal extension mechanisms typically utilise timber leaf runners and brass clips or latches to secure the leaves.

Authentic pieces display hand-carved elements, structural timber secondary woods such as pine or oak under the frame, original brass table clips, and smooth patina across the top surface. The presence of extension leaves with matching grain patterns and aged patina also indicates correct origin.

A dark mahogany table creates visual contrast when paired with contemporary upholstered dining chairs in light neutral fabrics. Positioning the piece under a modern pendant light or chandeliers helps balance classic proportion with modern aesthetic elements.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish periodically along the grain. Protect the finish from hot items and moisture using felt-backed mats, and keep the table away from direct heat sources to prevent wood shrinkage or finish bloom.
