Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Designed in early 19th-century Britain, a Regency breakfast table is typically a circular or oval table featuring a central pedestal base and a hinged tilt-top mechanism. This space-saving design allowed the table top to be flipped vertically and moved to the side of a room when not in use for dining.

These tables are primarily constructed from solid mahogany and decorated with high-figured flame mahogany or rosewood veneers. Key technical details include hand-cut dovetail joints, brass tilt-catch mechanisms, and multi-piece radiating or bookmatched veneer patterns across the table surface.

Authentic Regency examples display distinctive features such as heavy brass snap-latches beneath the top, original recessed castors, hand-planed timber undertops, and classic architectural bases like triform or quadripartite platforms. Look for natural shrinkage lines along veneer seams and age-appropriate wear to the brass hardware.

Place the table in a central foyer or dining space to showcase the timber grain when flat, or tilt the top upright against a wall as a focal point. Pair it with modern mid-century or contemporary minimalist chairs to create an engaging visual juxtaposition between historic craftsmanship and modern lines.

Preserve the original finish by regularly dusting with a soft, dry cloth and applying a quality beeswax polish twice a year along the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and sudden changes in humidity to prevent warping or veneer lifting, and ensure the tilt mechanism is operated gently.
