Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Italian Neoclassical furniture emerged in the late eighteenth century, drawing inspiration from classical Greek and Roman archeology. Characterised by rectilinear forms, fluted legs, symmetrical carved friezes, and painted finishes, it favoured restraint and elegance over baroque excess.

These tables were typically constructed from softwoods or hardwoods such as pine, walnut, or beech, which were carved and finished with paint or gilding. Solid marble slabs were frequently fitted as tops to provide a durable, heat-resistant surface.

Look for structural markers such as hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, hand-carved repeating motifs like guilloche or rosettes, and natural wear patterns on painted surfaces and marble edges.

Position the console against a neutral wall in an entryway or living space, pairing it with a contemporary mirror or artwork above to complement the historical painted frame and stone top.

Clean the marble surface with a damp cloth and pH-neutral stone cleaner, avoiding acidic chemicals that etch stone. Dust the painted wooden base with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to protect the distressed finish.
