Brian MacDonald Antique Rugs & Carpets has dated this Bakhtiari Tribal Woven Bag to the 1920s.
A large deer or gazelle is depicted top centre with smaller stylized animals on either side. The three lines either side of the stylised flowers and the 'S' border are all in knotted-pile, as is the thicker line above the animals. The back is simply a continuation of the front face showing the lighter cotton and slightly darker wool in plain-weave.
Size: 46 x 34cm (1' 6" x 1' 1").
