This 1920s oak lamp table belongs to the English Country House style and has a warm brown colour with a visible timber grain on the round top. The piece stands on four turned legs with collar details and rounded feet, joined near the base by a cross stretcher. The solid wood construction provides a strong structure with level joins at the aprons and stretchers. Measuring 74 cm high, 64 cm wide, and 64 cm deep, the table fits neatly beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa to hold a reading lamp, drinks, or books in a living room.

During the 1920s, lamp tables and occasional stands were crafted to support domestic electric lighting, combining sturdy oak timber with slender turned legs and cross-braced stretchers.

These tables were typically built from solid English or European oak, utilizing mortise and tenon joinery alongside hand-turned leg detailing and wooden stretchers.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber grain variations, period-appropriate joinery techniques, turned leg profiles, and honest surface wear around the feet and table edge.

Position the table alongside a sofa or armchair beneath a modern lighting fixture, or use it as an accent stand for potted plants in an entryway alcove.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality clear beeswax polish along the grain twice yearly, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources.
