Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Neoclassical cast stone garden ornaments gained widespread popularity during the 19th and early 20th centuries, drawing design inspiration from classical Greek and Roman vessel forms and architectural reliefs. They provided a durable and accessible alternative to hand-carved natural stone for country estate gardens and formal urban courtyards.

These items were manufactured by mixing crushed stone, sand, and cement, which was then packed or poured into detailed moulds. This composite technique permitted elaborate classical motifs, such as egg-and-dart rim moulding and gadrooning, while ensuring weather resistance for long-term outdoor display.

Authentic period cast stone displays organic surface erosion, lichen growth, and subtle tonal variation accumulated over decades of outdoor weathering. Original mould seams are typically softened by environmental exposure, and the stone exhibits a muted, matte surface rather than a uniform modern finish.

Cast stone planters can be positioned indoors as sculptural features on large console tables, or set upon timber display pedestals within a hallway or sunroom. Styling the shallow basin with moss, stone spheres, or dried botanicals introduces organic texture into modern architectural interiors.

Maintain cast stone by gently brushing away loose debris using clean water and a soft bristle brush, avoiding pressure washers and aggressive chemical cleaners. During severe winter frosts, elevate the piece off wet ground or cover it to prevent trapped moisture from expanding and causing surface spalling.
