The piece takes the form of an expanding desktop book holder with hinged folding end panels. Each folding end features a pale rectangular boxwood inlay panel decorated with Tunbridge ware mosaic marquetry. The left panel shows a symmetrical acanthus scroll pattern, while the right panel depicts a detailed moth motif bordered by a floral and leaf band. Both inlaid panels are framed by dark wood borders. The book slide measures 27 cm high, 13 cm wide, and 2 cm deep.
