In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian desk accessories and inkstands were designed during the nineteenth century to organize writing implements and liquid ink. They frequently featured structured metal trays, pen grooves, and hinged ink pots, combining functionality with geometric or classical design elements.

Nineteenth-century inkstands were constructed using durable materials such as cast brass, bronze, silver, and mahogany. Brass was particularly favoured for its durability, resistance to ink corrosion, and ability to hold crisp cast details.

Authentic Victorian brass inkstands usually feature heavy cast construction, hand-finished seams, natural tarnish or oxidisation in crevices, and functional details like hinged lids or removable glass liners inside the ink container.

Interior designers incorporate antique inkstands into modern spaces by placing them on executive office desks, bureau tops, or library bookshelves as historical focal points that add texture and material contrast.

Antique brass inkstands should be dusted regularly with a dry microfibre cloth. To preserve natural aged patina, abrasive chemical cleaners should be avoided; unlacquered brass may be treated with mild soapy water or specific conservation wax if protection is desired.
