This practical nest of three tables follows a Sheraton Revival style from 1900, bringing a touch of English Country House character to any interior. The set consists of three graduated rectangular tables constructed from warm brown mahogany, each enhanced with contrasting satinwood inlay borders along the edges of the top surfaces. Slender turned legs support each piece, connected by stability stretchers that lead down to shaped feet forming a sturdy trestle base. The tables store neatly one beneath another when not in use, making them highly versatile for everyday living. Measuring 69 cm high, 48 cm wide and 33 cm deep for the largest table, this set occupies minimal floor space while offering multiple surface options. These pieces work particularly well placed at the end of a sofa to hold drinks and reading materials, or positioned beside an armchair in a living room, study or bedroom. They also serve effectively as flexible occasional tables for entertaining guests throughout the home or office.

Originating in the late eighteenth century and credited to designer Thomas Sheraton, nests of tablesoriginally termed quartetto tables when sold in sets of fourwere created to maximize space in drawing rooms while providing adaptable surfaces for tea and games.

Antique nests of tables were primarily crafted from fine hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or satinwood, often featuring boxwood stringing, crossbanded veneer borders, and turned wooden supports.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut jointing underneath, subtle variations in dimensions across the graduated frames, natural patination on the timber surfaces, and specific proportional balance in the slender legs.

Position the fully stacked set beside a armchair or sofa as a compact side table, and draw out the individual smaller tables to serve as extra surfaces when entertaining guests.

Keep the timber surfaces clean by dusting with a dry microfiber cloth, apply beeswax polish sparingly along the grain twice a year, and keep away from direct heat sources or high humidity to preserve the veneer inlay.
