This is a very attractive 19th century cast iron stick stand representing Hercules as an infant strangling the serpents sent to kill him. The design was registered by Edwin and Theophilus Smith of Sheffield circa 1860 and is based on the Greek mythological story of the infant Hercules surviving the attempt on his life. The stand is still in its beautiful original paint finish which has a lovely antique chestnut shade and nice antique patina. This in excellent condition, it measures 82 cms high 46 cms wide and 22 cms deep.UK delivery can be arranged with our local courier and costs £60 plus vat to most areas.
