Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This French Art Deco side table dates from 1930 and is constructed from mahogany with timber veneer and a warm brown colour. The piece has a rectangular, stepped top with curved sides, paired with angled pedestal supports and a horizontal chrome stretcher bar resting on stepped trestle feet. The visible hardware includes the circular chrome bar at the base, and the timber surfaces have a waxed and polished finish. Measuring 65 cm high, 65 cm wide, and 43 cm deep, it provides a practical surface for everyday use. Positioned at the end of a sofa, this table serves as a convenient spot for a lamp, books, or drinks in a living room, study, or hallway. The compact dimensions make it suitable for smaller spaces while maintaining a distinct geometric style characteristic of the period. The combination of warm wood tones and metal hardware offers a functional addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

FAQs

French Art Deco furniture from the 1920s and 1930s is defined by geometric shapes, clean architectural lines, rich wood veneers, and subtle metallic accents.

Craftsmen frequently utilised polished timber veneers such as mahogany, walnut, or rosewood, often paired with nickel, chrome, or brass stretchers and hardware.

Authentic pieces feature geometric silhouettes, hand-finished veneer graining, quality joinery such as dovetail joints, and original metallic stretchers or fittings.

Position the table beside a sofa or accent chair, topped with a sculptural table lamp, glass coasters, or minimal decorative objects to highlight its geometric form.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain twice yearly, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or excess moisture.
