The George III period spans from 1760 to 1820, characterised by a transition from heavy baroque influences towards neoclassical elegance, featuring refined proportions, high-quality timber, and expert cabinet-making techniques.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid mahogany or pine with mahogany veneers, incorporating hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction and secured with traditional brass hardware.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-tooled joinery, timber shrinkage patterns, period-correct brass fixings, and the presence of genuine age-related wear and patination rather than artificial distressing.

Pairing historical timber pieces with contemporary artwork and minimalist lighting creates a balanced scheme that highlights the rich grain and craftsmanship of the antique furniture.

Maintain mahogany furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and nourish the surface periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
