A cellarette was used in dining rooms during the Georgian period to store and chill wine bottles before they were served at the table.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, featuring dovetail joints, brass banding for structural reinforcement and waterproofing, and carrying handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, genuine patina on the timber, original brass fittings, and secondary woods consistent with 18th-century cabinetmaking.

It can be repurposed as a functional side table, placed beside a sofa or in a study, or used to display plants and store contemporary items while adding historic character to a room.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the finish.
