This pair of eighteenth-century Rococo side tables originates from England and follows designs by Thomas Johnson. Each table stands on an octagonal plinth base supporting a central pedestal with openwork scrolling and intricate foliate carving. The giltwood and painted surfaces display a bright gold finish, complementing the shaped breche du tholonet marble tops. Later plinths provide structural support beneath the richly carved pedestals.
