FAQs

Neoclassical roundels draw inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman art, experiencing major revivals during the Renaissance, the 18th century, and the early 20th century for interior decoration.

These pieces are typically cast using plaster of Paris or gesso into moulds taken from sculpted originals, often reinforced with internal fibres or wooden backing frames.

Authentic period pieces often exhibit genuine surface wear, fine layers of historic paint or patina, crisp hand-chased details from the casting process, and ageing consistent with early 20th-century manufacture.

They can be hung as focal points against dark-painted walls for contrast, mounted within architectural panelling, or displayed simply on picture ledges for a curated look.

Plaster is extremely porous and fragile; cleaning should be limited to very gentle dusting with a soft, dry brush, avoiding all water and chemical cleaning agents.
