Coalbrookdale was a pioneering Shropshire foundry established in the early eighteenth century, famous for producing highly ornate and structurally advanced cast iron ornamental pieces during the Victorian era.

These items were produced using sand-casting techniques with high-grade grey cast iron, often finished with protective japanning or dark paint coatings to prevent oxidisation.

Authentic pieces frequently feature registration numbers, stamped foundry marks, crisp relief detailing, and heavy ferrous weight distinct from later lightweight reproductions.

It serves as a functional sculptural piece in modern hallways, contrasting cleanly against minimal plaster walls while providing practical storage for walking sticks and umbrellas.

Dust regularly with a dry brush and occasionally apply a light microcrystalline wax to protect the surface finish from moisture without attracting dirt.
