Peter Harris Clocks & Militaria has dated this Ottoman Silver Flintlock Pistol to the 18th Century.

The lockplate is crisply signed Dumarest and retains its original patina. The Ottoman stock shows honest age, with fittings of mellowed brass and a pleasing surface untouched by modern restoration.
Such hybrid arms were highly prized in the Ottoman Empire, combining the reliability of French gunmaking with the distinctive aesthetics of Eastern stocks. Today, they illustrate the vibrant exchange of technology and style between Europe and the Near East at the turn of the 19th century.

Overall length: 36 cm.
Condition: Lock signed and of good age, mechanism functioning. stock and mounts with expected wear for period.
A rare and desirable collector’s piece, attractive both for its Dumarest signature and for its evocative Ottoman form.
