Cast iron french cannon sitting on a later wood naval type carriage with cast iron wheels, it has gavre av ghapet cast into the top of the barrel, it also has twin carrying handles which is quite unusual. Probably used for saluting or signaling this is a fine example to display in your garden

This nineteenth-century French cannon combines a black cast iron barrel with a dark wooden naval-type carriage fitted with four solid timber wheels and black cast iron rims. The cast iron barrel displays raised reinforced muzzle rings, inscribed text on the upper surface reading GAVRE AV GHAPET, and twin dolphin lifting handles. Measuring 57 cm high, 112 cm wide and 46 cm deep, the artillery piece provides an imposing decorative focal point for a gentleman's library, study or reception room. Placed upon a floor or hearth, the military object brings historical character to an interior interior setting as a standalone decorative conversation piece.
