An excellent marble top metal mounted stand of large scale , firmly attributed to Gabriel Viardot . Paris 1830-1904.Although their were a number of Parisian makers in the late 19th Century Paris making furniture in Chinese style the lower leg and foot on this stand is typical Viardot . He was also fond of using metal dragon mounts as in this case .This stand is of large stature and metal mounted to free stand if need be. Although unsigned , and much of Viardot furniture is not signed , this stand can really only be attributed to Gabriel Viardot .Don has been dealing in Meiji period art for 60 years , exhibiting in London , New York , Baltimore , Miami and Shanghai.
