FAQs

Seventeenth-century carved wooden panels were typically produced during the Jacobean and Stuart periods in Europe, often utilised as decorative elements within high-status domestic interiors, ecclesiastical settings, or integrated into bespoke furniture like cabinets and wainscoting.

These pieces were handcrafted primarily from quarter-sawn English or European oak, shaped using traditional hand tools such as gouges and chisels to create deep relief carvings, and assembled using traditional joinery methods.

Authenticity is determined by examining the wood grain, tool marks left by hand chisels, period-appropriate patination, signs of age-related shrinkage, and construction methods consistent with seventeenth-century woodworking practices.

These architectural fragments can be mounted directly onto walls as focal art pieces, framed in shadow boxes, or incorporated into contemporary bespoke cabinetry to add historical texture and depth to modern spaces.

Preserve antique wood by maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent drying and cracking, and periodically dusting with a dry, soft cloth without applying modern chemical polishes.
