Description

A handsome and very stylish two-tiered drinks trolley or bar cart featuring swan neck design on the handle.

The two tiers made with solid oak, with a black finish. The top tier with brass gallery railing and finials. The brass with a most pleasing patination. Replacement although period castors; one wheel doesn’t move as freely as others. If regular movement of the trolley is required, perhaps modern replacement castors would be beneficial.

There is a £50 delivery contribution on this item to the UK.

Date of Manufacture

William Rand Antiques has dated this Vintage Brass Drinks Trolley to the 1920s.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Drinks trolleys and tea carts gained immense popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, evolving further in the 1920s and 1930s as portable hospitality units for home entertaining.

These pieces are typically constructed from a combination of metals such as brass or plated steel, paired with wooden shelves like oak, mahogany, or walnut, frequently featuring glass or mirrored surfaces.

Authentic pieces from the 1920s often exhibit period-specific hardware, traditional joinery, heavy-gauge brass components, and cast-iron or rubber-tyred wheels characteristic of early 20th-century manufacturing.

A vintage drinks trolley can be styled as a functional home bar by stocking it with glassware, a decanter, and a collection of spirits, contrasting antique metalwork with modern decor.

Maintain brass components with a non-abrasive metal cleaner to preserve their finish, and use a soft, dry cloth for wooden surfaces, avoiding excessive moisture and direct sunlight.
