Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A lazy susan is a revolving tray placed on a dining table or sideboard to assist in sharing dishes, condiments, or hors doeuvres among guests. Originating in the eighteenth century as a dumbwaiter, the rotating design became widely popular in domestic entertaining throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Edwardian lazy susans were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut. The rotating mechanism comprised a brass or wooden central axis pin, sometimes operating with early steel ball bearings, fitted inside a weighted pedestal base.

Authentic pieces feature natural wood grain variations, hand-turned wooden edges, and age-appropriate wear on the base mechanism. They lack modern plastic components, synthetic clear coats, or modern metal screws.

Position the tray at the centre of a dining table or kitchen island to anchor a collection of glassware, small vases, or decanters. It also serves as a functional centrepiece for serving cheeses, condiments, or aperitifs during gatherings.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to maintain the timber finish. Avoid standing water or harsh chemical cleaners, wiping away liquid spills immediately to protect the lacquer.
