We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popular during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Georgian silk embroidery pictures were crafted primarily by young women as demonstration pieces of needlework skill, depicting allegorical, biblical, or genre scenes.

These works were executed using fine silk threads embroidered onto a silk or satin ground, often incorporating hand-painted watercolour details for facial features and background skies.

Authentic Georgian pieces typically display natural age-related toning, hand-spun silk threads with subtle variations, period timber frames, and characteristic hand-painted gouache or watercolour accents.

Display the picture as part of a curated gallery wall alongside line drawings or hang it individually in a study, hallway, or reading nook to introduce fine texture and historical interest.

Keep framed silk pictures out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, maintain stable humidity levels, and ensure the work is mounted behind UV-protective glass with acid-free backing materials.
