A lebrillo is a traditional large earthenware basin originating in Spain, historically utilised for domestic tasks such as washing clothes, kneading dough, or personal hygiene, often featuring distinctive glazed slipware decoration.

These vessels are crafted from local terracotta clay, shaped on a potters wheel, and finished with a tin or lead glaze incorporating metallic oxides to produce characteristic green, yellow, and blue pigments.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit irregularities from hand-throwing, historical wear, crazing in the glaze, and traditional folk art motifs such as stylised fauna or geometric borders native to regions like Andalusia or Catalonia.

Due to its scale and visual weight, a lebrillo functions effectively as a striking centrepiece on a large dining table, displayed on a sideboard, or mounted as wall art to add rustic texture and historic character.

Antique earthenware is porous and should be kept dry indoors away from direct sunlight; clean gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid immersion in water or the use of chemical detergents.
