FAQs

Edwardian design, spanning from 1901 to 1910, is characterised by lighter, more graceful forms compared to heavy Victorian pieces, often drawing inspiration from 18th-century neoclassical revivals.

These pieces were typically crafted from dense timbers like mahogany, frequently featuring contrasting satinwood inlay, marquetry details, and cast brass or loop handles secured by traditional joinery.

Authenticity is indicated by hand-cut dovetail joints, genuine timber ageing, traditional French polish finishes, and fine marquetry work rather than printed laminates or modern synthetic glues.

Place the tray on a sideboard or coffee table to corral smaller decorative objects, such as crystal decanters or brass candlesticks, adding texture and historical contrast to modern spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth and occasionally apply a quality beeswax polish to nourish the timber, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners and excessive moisture.
