Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late nineteenth century, Aesthetic Movement furniture emphasizes craftmanship, simplified geometry, and artistic form over heavy Victorian ornamentation. Key influences include Anglo-Japanese design, delicate turnings, ebonised or natural solid woods, and subtle decorative aprons or paneling.

Tables from this period were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut. Joinery featured mortise and tenon joints, hand-turned legs, and cross-stretchers designed to ensure structural rigidity during regular use.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery, natural wear patterns on the stretchers and leg feet, and hand-cut timber underside details. Search for characteristic design elements of the era, such as turned legs, carved aprons, and original surface patination.

An antique card table functions effectively as an occasional side table, hall accent, or reading table in an empty room corner or bay window. Placing contemporary ceramics or curated books on its surface balances historic wood tones with modern decor.

Dust regularly with a dry, lint-free microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year following the grain. Avoid placing solid timber directly adjacent to heat sources or under direct sunlight to prevent drying out or cracking.
