18th Century Irish Mahogany Side Table

£1,299    $1,663    €1,567
A beautifully simple Irish Chippendale style mahogany side table c1770, with a drawer at each end and open bracket detail to the square legs. There is a large carved shell motif to the central frieze of the table, a design feature often found on Irish furniture. The top is made of a single piece of mahogany which has developed a lovely patina.

A very stylish table with an excellent rich colour to the mahogany. Unusually it has a drawer at either end instead of in the front, which have the original axe drop handles. The shell detail to the front is gorgeous - it is quite substantial and beautifully carved from solid mahogany.

Condition: The table is in very good original condition throughout, with some minor surface marks which I have tried to show in the photos. One of the drawer handles is a little deformed. The top is a lovely piece of mahogany with marks and wear in accordance with age, which is all part of its charm. The top is a little lighter in colour than the base of the table. probably due to exposure to sunlight.
