Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These nineteenth century French ironmongers drawers provide practical storage with a tall narrow industrial profile. Constructed from pine with a dark brown finish, the piece features a multi-drawer arrangement comprising sixteen small compartments stacked vertically above a larger lower drawer. Each small drawer displays a turned wooden knob and hand-painted white French labels that are partially overwritten with chalk. Some labels show wear and fading, and the top corner exhibits a repair, leaving the piece otherwise as found in untouched condition. Measuring 112 cm high by 31 cm wide and 27 cm deep, this bank of drawers stands upright on the floor to organise small items. The narrow footprint allows placement in tight corners, hallways or home studies where vertical storage keeps surfaces clear. The dark timber and simple wooden hardware complement industrial loft interiors or workshop spaces seeking authentic period character.

FAQs

French ironmongers drawers are specialised multi-drawer storage cabinets manufactured for hardware shops, workshops, and tradespeople during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to sort small components such as screws, nails, and fittings.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted from durable softwoods such as pine or fir, constructed with simple joinery, thin timber drawer linings, and turned wooden or cast iron knobs designed for heavy daily use.

Authentic examples typically display genuine surface wear around drawer handles, original hand-written or stencilled content labels, natural timber oxidisation, and uneven patina resulting from historical workshop usage.

A tall, narrow bank of drawers serves as a functional vertical accent in an entryway, home office, or living space, offering storage while introducing texture and historical contrast to modern interiors.

Clean the surface using a soft, dry cloth to remove loose dust, and apply a natural beeswax polish sparingly to nourish the wood without damaging historic chalk markings or painted labels.
