How do you style an Arts and Crafts side table in a modern interior?

Pair the table with neutral or earthy colour palettes, natural textiles, and ceramic accessories to highlight the organic grain and functional design of the piece.

What is the proper care and preservation for antique oak furniture?

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and periodically apply natural beeswax to nourish the finish without sealing the pores.

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in the late 19th century as a reaction against mass production, promoting traditional craftsmanship, visible construction, and simple forms inspired by medieval guilds.

Pieces from this era typically utilized native hardwoods such as oak, often featuring quarter-sawn surfaces with prominent medullary rays, pegged joints, and hand-finished surfaces.

Authentic pieces often exhibit mortise and tenon joinery, handmade hardware, honest construction techniques, and characteristic stylized motifs such as hearts or arrows cut into the wood.
