FAQs

Corinthian column pedestals draw inspiration from classical Greek and Roman architecture, experiencing significant revivals during the Neoclassical and Victorian periods when classical antiquity heavily influenced European interior design.

Authentic period pieces typically feature carved natural stone such as rouge or griotte marble, combined with cast and gilt bronze or brass mounts, often built around a supportive internal core for structural stability.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the natural ageing of the marble, the hand-chased quality of the gilt metal mounts, the construction methods used underneath the base, and period-appropriate wear patterns.

An antique pedestal serves as a vertical focal point in a room, traditionally used to elevate a bronze sculpture, ceramic vessel, or floral arrangement to create height variation and architectural interest.

Maintenance requires dusting with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding acidic cleaning agents that can etch the marble surface or damage the delicate gilt finish on the metal mounts.
