Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A demi-lune tea table is a semi-circular piece of accent furniture that gained widespread popularity during the eighteenth century. It features a hinged fold-over top supported by a gate-leg or swivel mechanism, allowing it to function as a compact wall table when closed or a circular surface for serving tea and social games when opened.

These tables were predominantly crafted from dense hardwoods such as dense Cuban mahogany or walnut. Secondary woods like pine or oak were used for internal framing, and the joinery relied on traditional mortise and tenon joints with brass hardware, such as cast escutcheons and hinges.

Authentic period tables display hand-cut dovetails, irregular hand-planed underside surfaces, and natural shrinkage across the wood grain. Check for historic brass hardware with original cast marks and signs of authentic wear on the leg joints and feet.

Position the closed table flush against a wall in an entryway, hallway, or living room alcove to serve as a console. Display a contemporary table lamp, ceramic vase, or framed artwork on top to create a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern decor.

Keep the wood surface clear of direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading. Dust regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the natural patina and finish.
