A Pair of French Rouge Marble and Gilt Bronze Cassolettes

Description

A beautiful pair of French late 19th century rouge marble and gilt bronze mounted cassolettes or urns, of unusually small proportions. The ovoid marble bodies are mounted with double handles and decorative bands, and have removable lids topped with a pineapple shaped finial. They stand on square marble bases on raised feet. Both have been drilled to allow conversion to lamps, but there is no sign that this has ever been done.

Condition: Both urns are in good original condition, with some minor surface wear and tarnishing to the metal areas. One of them has a very slight lean to one side.
