This George III mahogany kneehole side table belongs to the Georgian period and displays a warm brown timber colour with contrasting boxwood and ebony stringing, crossbanding around figured panels, and brass rosette handles and castors. The oblong top has a half-round moulded edge above three drawers, including a central drawer flanked by deep drawers, with arched brackets beneath the centre and square tapered legs. The piece measures 76 cm high, 99 cm wide, and 52 cm deep. Suitable for placement as a side table or writing desk in a hallway, bedroom, or living space, this traditional English country house furnishing provides a compact surface and storage drawers. The design accommodates daily administrative tasks or display requirements while integrating neatly against a wall or within a study arrangement.

A Georgian kneehole side table is an 18th-century piece of furniture featuring a central recessed arch or opening to allow seating, flanked by drawers or cupboards, commonly used as a writing desk or dressing table.

Georgian cabinetmakers primarily used solid Cuban or West Indian mahogany, frequently accented with satinwood or boxwood crossbanding, pine secondary drawer linings, and cast brass handles.

Authentic George III pieces display hand-dovetailed drawer joints, hand-sawn secondary timber on drawer bottoms, natural shrinkage marks, and original brass fittings or castors appropriate to the late 18th-century period.

A Georgian kneehole desk functions well in a modern hallway or home office, paired with contemporary table lamps, minimalist artwork, or a simple desk chair to contrast classic woodwork with sleek textures.

Maintain antique mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft cloth, applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the grain, and keeping the piece away from direct sunlight or extreme heat sources.
