This late Victorian biscuit barrel is a three-colour jasperware and stoneware piece in a Victorian Neoclassical style. The cylindrical body presents a pale mustard yellow glaze contrasted by applied black classical figure reliefs, a grapevine garland held in the jaws of a lion mask with a ring, and a white ring around the base, complemented by a silver-plated lid and an arched swing handle with a pointed finial. The silver-plated lid has a turned central knob, and the underside is marked Wedgwood Etruria England. The vessel stands 14 cm high, 14 cm wide, and 14 cm deep, with the handle adding 9 cm in the upright position. Positioned on a sideboard top, this piece serves as a decorative storage container for dry goods in an English Country House setting. It brings traditional ceramic artistry and historical character to a dining room, living area, or kitchen display.

A tri-colour jasperware biscuit barrel is a late Victorian ceramic container made from unglazed stoneware featuring relief decoration in three distinct colour combinations, usually paired with silver-plated rim mounts, a lid, and a swing handle.

Victorian biscuit barrels were commonly crafted from vitreous stoneware or opaque glass, fitted with electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) or sterling silver mounts designed to keep biscuits protected from moisture.

Authentic pieces exhibit crisp, hand-applied sprigged relief figures, smooth stoneware bodies, and impressed uppercase maker marks such as WEDGWOOD alongside date lettering on the underside.

Position the vessel on a sideboard top, kitchen counter, or drinks tray to add historical depth, contrasting fine historic craftsmanship against modern minimalist surfaces.

Clean the unglazed ceramic using a soft brush dipped in mild soapy water, avoiding soaking the metal mounts, and gently polish the silver plating using a clean, non-abrasive cloth.
