FAQs

Serpentine console tables gained prominence during the 18th-century French Rococo period under Louis XV, characterized by undulating s-shaped curves, elaborate carving, and architectural placement against grand interior walls.

Traditional French console tables were crafted from hardwoods such as oak, beech, or walnut, often featuring carved lime wood details, painted or gilded finishes, and stone or marble tops.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved joinery, mortise and tenon construction, subtle asymmetry in hand-carved motifs, and natural wear patterns or layering on painted surfaces.

Position the console table in an entryway, hallway, or behind a sofa, balancing its ornate silhouette with a large wall mirror or modern table lamps placed above.

Maintain painted finishes by gentle dusting with a soft dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, liquids, and placement near direct heat sources or sunlight.
