Description

Wonderfully stylish and completely original rare 1930's Art Deco female advertising shop counter mannequin. She's made from hollowed plaster and has a hardboard base. Having been very skillfully and beautifully painted, her very subtle make up, blushed cheeks, real eyelashes accentuate her hand painted eyes, she's perfect for display. Very typical of Deco mannequins with stylised long pedestal column base, in gold and pastel green. She stands 40 cm tall so an excellent size for dressing tables and general display and certainly worthy of being added to any collection. Condition, very good with just a couple of paint loss areas. No cracks, crazing is to the minimum, no discolouration. Her hair clips are original and showing just early signs of rusting but for come up to 90 odd years that's to be expected. She definitely won't disappoint . FREE UK DELIVERY

Date of Manufacture

Art Deco World has dated this Art Deco Mannequin Bust to the 1930s.

Art Deco shop mannequins emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, reflecting the sleek, stylised aesthetics of the modernist movement in retail environments.

Makers frequently utilised materials such as composition plaster, papier-mache, wax, and early plastics like celluloid or cast plaster over wire armatures.

Authenticity is determined by examining original hand-painted facial features, period-appropriate hairstyles, surface wear consistent with age, and traditional construction methods.

Place the piece on a console table or bookshelf to add architectural height, vintage character, and a sculptural focal point to a room.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid chemical solvents or excessive moisture to protect fragile painted surfaces and historical finishes.
