We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century miniature chest of drawers is constructed from mahogany with a warm brown finish. The piece takes a Victorian style, designed with two small drawers over two long drawers, fitted with small turned brass knob handles and supported by four short block feet. A lighter-coloured inlaid leaf medallion decorates the top surface, and the base features a shaped apron with subtle curves. Surface wear and minor scuffs are visible across the timber, reflecting its age. Practical dimensions measure 27.5 cm in height, 27.5 cm in width, and 13 cm in depth. Ideal for placement on a sideboard top or desk in a gentleman's library or study, this piece holds small desk accessories, stationery, or trinkets. Collectors of miniature furniture can also display it on a bookshelf, chest, or tabletop to complement traditional interior settings.

Miniature chests of drawers were produced during the nineteenth century primarily as apprentice pieces to demonstrate craftsmanship skills or as salesman samples to present furniture designs without transporting full-scale pieces.

These pieces were typically crafted using dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, often incorporating hand-cut dovetail joints, secondary softwood linings like pine, and marquetry or stringing inlays.

Authentic period examples exhibit signs of genuine hand construction, including fine dovetail joints, period-correct brass or turned wood handles, aged secondary timber on the back and drawer bottoms, and a naturally aged patina.

A miniature chest functions effectively as a tabletop organiser on a hallway console, an office desk accessory for stationary, or an elegant jewellery container atop a bedroom dressing table.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a natural beeswax polish annually, while placing the object away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid wood shrinkage.
