This is an antique Edwardian miniature calligrapher's chest of drawers, English in origin and dating to circa 1910. The tabletop piece is constructed from mahogany with warm caramel hues and fine grain interest, and displays a desirable aged patina. The design presents a quartet of graduated drawers dressed with circular brass pulls, inset brass-lined locks with a key present, and decorative brass corner studs down the sides. The cabinet stands upon four small bracket feet beneath a broad lower apron and measures 42 cm high, 38.5 cm wide and 30 cm deep. Suitable for use on an office desk or table setting, the chest provides practical storage for documents, small drawings or other paper crafts. The estate-made tabletop chest of drawers brings period character to a gentleman's library or study space while occupying a modest footprint on a work surface.

Miniature calligrapher chests are compact multi-drawer desktop cabinets produced during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to store calligraphy nibs, inks, wax seals, and writing implements.

Edwardian desktop chests were predominantly constructed using solid woods and veneers such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, secured with hand-cut dovetail joints and outfitted with brass knobs or escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces exhibit natural wood patina, period-correct drawer construction such as thin drawer linings, traditional brass hardware, and original lock mechanisms.

These small-scale cabinets serve functional and decorative purposes when positioned on a writing desk, console table, sideboard, or bookshelf to hold jewellery and small desk items.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a dry lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish periodically, keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
