This late Georgian tripod table from the Regency period comes in pale oak with a light brown timber tone. The round plank top is hinged for tilting, resting on a turned central baluster column that joins three splayed cabriole legs with curved feet. Natural grain patterns and surface marks show age across the wooden surface, along with a historic splice visible on one of the leg ends. Measuring 73.5 cm high, 79.5 cm wide, and 79.5 cm deep, the table stands solid for everyday use. In a contemporary interior, the occasional table fits neatly at the end of a sofa or in a quiet corner of a living room or hallway. The rustic farmhouse design works well beside seating or as a small display surface for lamps and books. Simple lines and traditional carpentry allow the piece to blend easily into both period and modern settings while providing practical tabletop space.

Developed in the 18th century, a Georgian tripod table is an occasional table featuring a circular top supported by a central turned column and three splayed legs. Many examples incorporate a tilt-top mechanism allowing the surface to fold vertically for space-saving storage along room perimeters.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised dense hardwoods such as English oak, mahogany, and walnut. Construction involved hand-dovetailed tilt boxes, mortise and tenon joints securing the legs to the central turned stem, and solid timber planks for the table top.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-planed surfaces, irregular underside timber shrinkage, hand-forged iron or brass tilt latches, and turned central pillars displaying subtle variations from hand-lathe shaping.

Position the piece beside an armchair as an occasional drink table, or place it in an entryway alcove with a minimalist ceramic vase to create a natural, textured focal point that bridges traditional and contemporary aesthetics.

Clean the timber regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the grain. Avoid direct sunlight, proximity to radiators, and liquid spills to preserve the natural patina.
