FAQs

Originating in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, French revival furniture incorporates classical motifs from earlier eras, featuring elaborate gilding, carved foliage, floral swags, and marble tabletops.

These tables were constructed from carved hardwoods coated with gesso and decorated with gold leaf gilding, complemented by fitted slabs of natural white or grey-veined marble.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved structural details beneath gilding, light age-related rubbing or oxidisation to the gold finish, and natural wear patterns on the original marble surface.

Position the table along an entry hallway or focal wall, balancing the ornate gilt frame with minimalist artwork, simple ceramic vessels, or a contemporary wall mirror.

Dust giltwood surfaces lightly with a dry soft feather duster to protect delicate gold leaf finish, and wipe marble tops with a clean, damp cloth avoiding acidic detergents.
