Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian supper table is an 18th-century tilt-top piece made from dark brown mahogany with a smooth polished finish and a rich patina. The circular top features an applied scalloped piecrust edge, while the support structure consists of a turned column resting on a tripod base with carved cabriole legs ending in pad feet and a birdcage mechanism allowing full rotation. The round top measures 88 cm in diameter and the overall height stands at 72 cm. In a contemporary home, this versatile table functions well in an empty corner as a decorative display surface or serves as an occasional side table when folded flat and positioned against a wall. The compact footprint makes it suitable for traditional living spaces, studies, or reception rooms where flexible furniture placement is required.

Developed in the 18th century, a birdcage tilt-top supper table features a hinged wooden block mechanism mounted on a central pillar, allowing the circular top both to rotate 360 degrees and tilt vertically for compact storage.

These tables were predominantly crafted from solid Cuban or West Indian mahogany, featuring hand-carved piecrust rim mouldings, a turned central support, and a tripod base secured with hand-cut joinery.

Authentic 18th-century examples display hand-planed underside surfaces, original forged iron catch mechanisms, carved rim details, and natural timber shrinkage across the circular top causing slight irregularity in shape over time.

Position the table in a corner, beside an armchair, or in a window bay as an occasional drinks table, or tilt the top vertically to display the carved mahogany grain as a wall-adjacent decorative element.

Maintain the original polished surface by dusting regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and applying microcrystalline or beeswax polish annually, while avoiding direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber splitting.
