Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This eighteenth century wall bracket follows a neoclassical design. The construction incorporates painted wood, gesso, and giltwood with a palette combining gold and white tones. A semicircular top shelf features gilded surfaces and a beaded trim moulding along the edge. Below the shelf, a tapered body is decorated with carved acanthus leaves and fluting finished in white with distressing showing darker undertones. The piece terminates in a carved leaf finial hanging below the main body. Measuring 35 cm high, 30 cm wide, and 18.5 cm deep, this wall bracket provides a decorative display surface for a narrow wall space in an interior setting. It works well in a hallway, living room, or bedroom to support small sculptures, vessels, or decorative objects. The compact scale allows it to fit easily into architectural alcoves or beside doorways.

An 18th-century giltwood wall bracket is a decorative carved wall support designed to display porcelain, clocks, or small sculptures during the Georgian and Neoclassical eras.

These pieces were typically carved from softwoods such as pine or lime, coated in layers of gesso, and finished using water gilding alongside painted gesso details.

Authentic period examples feature hand-carved tool marks, historical wood shrinkage, original fixing points on the reverse, and red or yellow clay bole showing through worn gilding.

Mount the bracket in an entryway or alcove to hold a single decorative focal point, such as a ceramic vessel or small bronze bust.

Dust the surface lightly using a soft camel-hair brush or feather duster, avoiding moisture, solvents, or damp cloths that could dissolve the gesso and gold leaf.
