Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century country house pastry table embodies a rustic farmhouse style, constructed with a solid pine frame and a thick grey metal top. The wooden base displays a distressed cream painted finish with visible wear, complemented by a single central drawer fitted with a curved brass handle and supported by straightforward square legs. Standing 81 cm high, 114 cm wide, and 76 cm deep, the piece offers a practical working surface. In a contemporary home, this prep table functions effectively as a kitchen island, a baking station, or a characterful side workspace in a utility room or open-plan living area. The distressed cream and grey surfaces integrate well into traditional, rustic, or eclectic interiors, providing both functional storage through the drawer and a robust top for daily tasks.

FAQs

An antique pastry table is a specialised kitchen worktable featuring a cool surface, such as metal or stone, designed to keep pastry dough chilled during preparation in 19th and early 20th-century households.

These tables were typically constructed with solid timber frames, such as pine or oak, paired with cold work surfaces made from zinc, marble, or slate, and fitted with drawers for utensils.

Authentic examples feature natural wear on the painted timber frame, authentic joinery, period drawer hardware, and signs of historical kitchen use on the top surface.

An antique pastry table functions effectively as a compact kitchen island, a side prep station, or a dedicated coffee bar in both contemporary and traditional interiors.

Clean the top surface using a soft damp cloth, avoid harsh chemical cleaners, and preserve the distressed painted wooden base by dusting regularly.
